Hardness- An expression of the concentration of inorganic salts in water which prevents effective cleaning and germicidal action. Hardness is measured in ppm (parts per million) calculated as calcium carbonate’ (CaCO.). Also: (a) Knoop Hardness - value relating resistance to indentation by a weighted wedge shaped diamond. High Solids- A floor polish which has a 20% or higher non-volatile content. Unlike concentrates, high solids products are generally used without dilution. Hue- A bluish coloration promoting the perception of depth in clear films. |
